dustweb

perhaps you can't see it here, but i spotted it the minute the i walked into the room: this thin floor-to-ceiling filament glistening in the morning sunlight streaming in the window. i have seen these before, long phantom strands that show up at a moment's notice. what is this thing? is it web? dust? and how could it materialize overnight? i saw no evidence of any living thing having created it. unless perhaps it was a result of my own negligible housekeeping these fine spring days.

Chris, i'm in florida and i find such webs everyday right outside my front door. They were spider webs and i've sometimes noticed the spiders, at least that's what i think they are. And yes amazingly they build overnight! Call it determination :)

I think you keep your house neat and clean or you would't notice this kind of stuff.

I know what that is, even if I live miles and miles from you. " spring cleaning", or I am wrong. what next? next blog please.

A spider walks across the ceiling then slowly (or not so slowly) lowers itself to the floor and scampers away! No living creature but enough evidence for you to know its passing. And yes, it takes but a few minutes for one of those filaments to form.

I find those in my car across my windshield. They seem to connect nothing, and I have not seen any spiders in my car. They always appear when I head home from work. I clear them off, because the glint can be distracting, and they always come back. There must be one spider in my parking lot that likes to do this. LOL.

Chris, I spot those at my house as well. But never have I heard them defined so poetically;~)

Hmmm, I have an inspiration. Dust art? Photos of dust art. A meme? I'm just being silly. :)

I have seen a spider zip out a web as it literally flew down from the ceiling. I can't imagine how the little buggers manufacture their thread so quickly, but they do...Oh that I could accomplish something so speedily.

Spiders are the totem of creativity. What you have here is the non-sticky filament they weave .... the radial bones of the web. The others the one that make concentric circles are the ones designed to catch and hold a meal.
