violets

roses are red but violets are not blue - they're purple. these are one of my favorite flowers and fortunately, i have a whole section of lawn devoted to them in the springtime.

are there any really blue flowers? I am on a quest to put red, white, and blue flwers in my planters. I already have red and white geraniums!

costas: i do love violets and wish they'd stay longer
pinky: the violets are in a small section of space that used to be grass. years back, i planted a few violet plants at the edge and they have taken over - and i have let them!
danny laurent: sounds like what you're studying is fascinating!! thanks for the comment!
patti: think petunias. they're showy and they come in all different colors.

Nice!!! Can't wait to show this to my girlfriend. She loves flowers, especially violets. It's her favorite color.

But in a poem, it ia hard to rhyme with purple. I think it's called poetic license!

I love violets, too. Don't see too many in my yard in Nebraska. Where I grew up in New York, they grew wild every where.

I also love violets! Beautiful picture - I included this post as one of my "Friday Five" on my blog!
