black flies

what is this, you say? it's my windshield, twenty-five miles from the car wash that i'd gone to thirty minutes previously. black flies splatter on the glass as i drive, each tiny body making a p-p-p sound as it hits. this spring, black flies are thick in the air around us, infiltrating our noses, entering our mouths as we talk, getting stuck in our ears and taking up residence under our hair at the back of the neck. dreadful little biting creatures, they'll only be around for a few more weeks, thank goodness. then the mosquitos will take over.

I feel for you my friend. Same here at my Country, it's starting to rain also, and unwanted or rather annoying insects are on attack again. But my friend don't forget to be safe and healthy, rainy days gives a lot of illness. Have good day. :)

I was able to weed my garden for exactly fourteen minutes yesterday before I fled indoors. Black flies are terrible little buggers!

We have Black fly for a short time in Somerset West, South Africa too. They think we are delicious, especially around sunset. Dinner tease is to fly up my shorts. The itch is worst the following day.
I love this Canadian song http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AyRshnwExPU

Where I am, in Maine, the blackflies are treacherous! I take my little dog out and they seem to want to gang up, pick him up and fly away with him... Ive managed to avoid them, but have spent a good deal of time and money to keep them from biting Oscar.

I love your blogs, and your photos. We have much in common. Keep up the great work!

:D

Like, ew.

One of nature's greatest irritants: bugs.

Our problems are the dangerous ticks and they stay for months and you don't see them until it is too late.

unless you live where I live. the black flies and mosquitoes arrive in tandem. we are all donating blood to their cause.

Ugh. For us, it's the pollen. A yellow coat on everything outside, and in our sinuses. Ewww.

We have "love bugs" down here that basically do the same thing. Why are they called love bugs, you might ask. Well, they are connected to each other when they splat onto the cars. Harder than heck to clean them off, too.

Guess we all have some sort of nastiness to contend with, don't we?

We have them in droves here, too! (Yukon Territory, Canada) And mosquitos big enough to carry you away. They are the only reason I look forward to winter! ;o)

That sounds horrible!! I dread mosquitos! My daughter once lived on a road call Mosquito Road. I found out why they called it Mosquito Road on my first visit. lol
