a few times a week, i pass this. a rag, i think. it's hanging off a tree at the top of someone's driveway. and i bet it's been there for a least a year now. what is it, do you suppose? a marker of some sort? a remnant from a rowdy party? something blown in by the wind? whatever it is, it's unsightly and i fight the urge each time to yank it down and throw it away. but i'm afraid if i act on the impulse, someone may go careening down the hill after missing the sloping driveway.

I'd probably have to yank it down...especially if I have to look at it everyday:)
It does spoil the beautiful view.. and may be blown there by the wind.
Dont think anyone hanged it there on purpose.

I can see a face in your photo. The more obvious eye is just to the left of the rag.
that rag is spoiler! I hope someone would take it out
No, it's gross. I'd want to take it down too. If someone needs help finding that driveway, other markers can be stuck out there.
hmmmm. my impulse would be to replace it with something "sightly".
Let me know if you agree, and we can do the stealthy deed sometime in the night.

There must be a reason for it but I fail to see what it would be. Is the driveway hard to find as the driver approaches?
Whatever the reason, I agree it's quite ugly.
I vote on yanking it down. It would drive me nuts!
May be someone uses it as a cloth hanger
it does spoil the view for sure.....
It may spoil the view but it brings back a funny memory for me. For YEARS, my mom & I would drive by a magnolia tree on the way to her office. Deep in the tree near the trunk, hung a grayish object. We just figured it was a possum. Yes, we thought the possum was ALWAYS there. One day, Mom stopped only to discover it was a mop head. We laughed so hard!
I like the idea of hanging something else up there - a wind chime maybe...
jenthepen: you just made me laugh, too!! that's a great story! Naturedigital: if the wind did blow it there, i can't figure out why it hasn't blown it away. Anonymous: will let you know if & when i decide to move on this!
like annemarie ... i see the eye ... how can you focus on the rag when the EYE is so significant ... do not just look ... see
