who was here? looks like some forest critter had a picnic on this old tree stump just at the edge of the woods. i love to find signs of life like this in the woods but am continually surprised and a bit disappointed that i rarely happen upon the animals that are leaving them.

I like your photo and musing!
Be patient. You will see them.
I'll still keep reading because i'm impatient. but I'll wait for full blast of spring. I think it happens in May. May in the Philippines is summer, then the rain comes July or August.
Ah, that's so nice.
Nice photo :) Looks like a squirrel's smorgasbord!

great photos- great photographer!
I love your pics and your writing is real. I like it.
I also have a question . . . why do nearly full grown bear cubs continually climb a tree in my yard that appears to have no other signs of life living on it or in it? These two cubs visited on Easter Sunday . . . we suspect they are the same ones who visited us on Thanksgiving with their mother . . . mom is no longer around. We suspect she is raising another family now. But what do those two boys find so fascinating up in that tree? (It's purely assumption on my part that they are boys!) Don't you just love spring and all of the entertainment it brings on nearly a daily basis?
I have happened past your blog a few times. Definately one of my favorites that I have found in a while.
Just thought I would let you know.
This is well taken and executed love photos of natural wish i could take images like this really good !
Your photography leads us through a journey of time. I am very comfortable in my seat and will continue the ride. Looking forward to the upcoming scenery.
those critters are just so darn fast!
your work is full of wonder!
i love photography, and i have to say, you are amazing! keep up the good work!!!
Must be the gnomes..
since i wrote this post, the "table setting" has been altered a bit. snortyburrito, perhaps it is the work of gnomes! but i suspect that melanie is right that it's squirrels. i'm just surprised they're dining on pine cones...
John W. May and Pete davey, you should see all the shots i take that land in the trash!
district friend, i cannot answer your bear question. i know we have them all around here - have seen evidence of plenty but only one at the feeder a few springs ago - but have never seen one up a tree. i have to tell you, though, since i read your comment, i've been doing a lot of looking up as i walk!
thanks, all for your encouraging comments!
