for the deer

four old apples, hidden on a low shelf in the dark back corners of the refrigerator. too far gone for even applesauce, i'm afraid. using my best overhand, i'll fling them far out into the woods, a tasty snack for some surprised hungry deer who happens upon them, laying shriveled in the snow.

Good for those deer that you forgot all about those apples earlier.

Don't you like it though when you stumble quite unexpectedly upon something you were looking for desperately only a few days, weeks or months ago.

If you have'nt already thrown them otu, try a mummified apple....takes time, but the end result is worth it.

That is exactly what I do with the naughty fruit (bad fruit) in my fridge. Yay for the deer!

How I would love to live near an area where I could something like that.

It is by no accident that you forgot those apples were there. As God provides for you, He also provides for the animals.

A hundred years ago, or perhaps something closer to twenty, my wife and her siblings planted peach pits around their grandmother's garage. Now, we live in the house next to the one her Grandmother used to give my wife peachs, and there are a couple of peach trees, much to the delight of the local fawna.

It's comparitively fairly common to see a deer or two along the road, but somehow, they are able to slink in and eat the lower hanging peaches without being detected. One of these summers I'm going to just sit out there and watch.

peal them...soften them, store them, and make your own apple summer wine...

nice of you to give to the deer, instead of throwing the apples out you are helping a fellow animal.

We often throw food out for the animals, though I usually never seem to waste too many apples. It's amazing what skunks will eat as well.

Because of you the deers are thrilled and it's now possible that somewhere out there, could be sprouting new apple trees.
