just a dusting

it snowed yesterday, but not real winter snow. here we are in january, with virtually nothing on the ground. although i feel like a new england traitor, i'm sort of liking this winter. it's been unusually mild and i've not missed the snow, at least not yet. i like being able to walk outside without boots, to drive worry-free on clear pavement, to see still-green lawns and fields. at some point soon, i know i'll begin to worry about global warming and the environment. but right now, winter's feeling pretty good.

No snow, yet, here in Milan, Italy, either. We generally get some once every 2-3 years. Pretty coming down and on the parks, but a dangerous mess in the streets, especially since we're not used to it year-in-year-out. Even when it does snow just outside of town, in town the heat from the cars and houses often keeps it away. Happy in town with the very crisp, but sunny and dry days.

I'm in Texas and we don't need coats. My cat is shedding his winter coat. It's not normal but Enno and I are liking it. Don't feel like a traitor! xo Jenny

Just a dusting here in Utah, and gone this morning. Sunny and in the 50's all last week, colder but still good here. Usually at 0 or below in January! I too like this respite from full on winter.

You know how I absolutely adore snow. I also love the zeroish days like we had this week, where the air is so clean and the colors of the sky are still astonishing to me even after all these years. But I have to admit that this strange bare winter has its own charm. Being able to tramp about and see things like the mouse path from the school to the birdfeeder and have a clear walking path through the unbuggy winter woods is quite captivating. Every winter has its own lovely personality.

I've enjoyed it too! On Saturday, I even left my coat in the car because it was so beautiful outside! I enjoyed not being so weighed down with clothing!
