ice twice

for the second time in the same week, freezing rain. it can be treacherous to walk on and nerve-wracking to drive in, but there's no denying it's beautiful...

on a lilac bud, poised and waiting for spring,

in frozen drips running the length of the clothesline,

when bending birch trees right down to the ground,

even coating the antenna atop my car!

Yes, no doubt about it, it does look very pretty. But it is treacherous, as you say. I remember this from when I was a kid. We used to skate in the streets on it. Great fun for us. Not so much for the adults.

How lovely!!! I feel cooler just looking at these photographs. Here in Australia we have been weathering and complaining about ten days of 35 degrees celsius summer heat.

I just read in the paper that we had a tornado not too far from us yesterday morning.. I was at work and didn't even realize it!

Mmmmmm, you will have seen my first comment, when you read/vet your comments.

Wondering... Since you have Comment Ver. setting on, why do you have to make Dear Readers do *dreaded* Word Ver. setting too?

Please don't be mad at me, for asking. I've found that some, don't know they do have the *dreaded* Word Ver. setting on.

Please and thank you...

"Auntie" sezzzzzz...: that's a really good question!! i keep word verification on because it saves me dealing with spam messages in my email inbox. so i know anything that comes through as serendipitous is a legit comment. that said, i have gotten some ranting comments, not even about the blog or its content, and have been glad to have the opportunity to delete them so they don't appear on the blog. so i guess i need both comment moderation and word verification, for different reasons. that said, do you think word verification deters people from commenting?? it never occurred to me that it might...

on a completely unrelated note, i love your profile picture!!

What beautiful pictures, although I'm not sure the ice storm itself would have been quite as beautiful.
