march sun

on impluse this morning i threw open a window, leaned out, and basked in the march 1st sun for as long as my pajama-clad arms would endure. the air felt heavenly after having the place closed up for so long. even though some of our worst new england weather has come this month,  there's something inherently hopeful about march. the slant of the sun, the song of the birds, a shift in the wind - all make me keenly aware that we're finally on the down side of winter and that much closer to spring.

I thought the exact same thing before I read Mimsie's comment. The ballerina icicle dancing for spring.

Winter has been lonh gone here in the Netherlands. Sometimes it freezes a little at night, but only a degree or two. During the day the temperatures are mild. We haven't had any snow since December. Spring is already on its way here. Pretty icicle.

Mimsie and Tabor: i do see your ballerina now! i was so in awe of all the ice formations within the icicle itself that i never even noticed its outer shape!

March 1st has been a beautiful day here in northern England too. Temperatures are still almost freezing at night but I was out in the garden today and had to take my sweater off, it was so warm!
