december dessert

pear crisp - dessert for a special dinner tomorrow night. i was planning on making something spring-ish, maybe with rhubarb or strawberries, something airy with whipped cream. but it's going to s*** again, an intense storm tomorrow night and into the day on friday. apparently winter is not done with us quite yet. so it will be a good night to sit around the wood stove, drink coffee, laugh at the weather, and indulge in the cinnamon-y goodness of an old fashioned, warm from the oven wintertime dessert, topped with a dollop of ice cream to melt down the sides.

Sounds marvelous! Rhubarb is one of the things that I miss. My grandma used to ask the neighbor for fresh rhubarb stalks, then make pie...hot rhubarb pie with a scoop of vanilla ice cream melting over it...ahhhh, that's one of my favorites. The apple crisp sounds heavenly, too.

Glad you didn't use that dreaded 4-letter word!

Looks delicious!

I read about the impending snow on the East Coast yesterday. It seems like winter will never loosen its grip. Here in Michigan, we haven't seen any snow since last weekend, but we're 20 degrees below average for this time of year. Makes me wonder when it's finally going to become... Spring.

That pear crisp sounds great, but I do like the slightly sour taste of rhubarb. I haven't had it in a while and can't wait to have some. Mouth puckering good. Have a good evening around the wood stove.
