the day after thanksgiving

this crystal sight out my window as i wake up entirely too late on the day after thanksgiving. the house is filled with the good smell of turkey stock, simmering all night on the woodstove. it looks like a good day to stay inside and start dreaming of christmas.

Being English, Thanksgiving isn't a holiday that happens over here at all. But marrying an American has brought it into my life and even though my husband and I are apart this year (due to his being stationed elsewhere), I celebrated it with my Mom :)

It was really great to take part in and try out so many American recipes for it! Candied sweet potatoes are by far my favourite! :)

Hey, pass the sweet potatoes and dressing down to this end of the table, please.

Outside my dining room window was a similar sight--so peaceful.
