tiny volunteer

the tiniest of lupine plants, nestled among the wild violets under the garden bench, so very far away from any host plant. wondrous...how does this happen?

i am eagerly awaiting our lupines, and while i'm waiting, i've been watching the other spring flowers that are coming up. one that always surprises me are the daffodils, and narcissus, and other bulb flowers that seem to come up in the middle of nowhere. it begs the question of which came first, the chicken or the egg? for i know that these are bulb flowers that would normally appear in a planned garden. so to see them in the midst of a forest, i have to wonder who planted them. i've come to believe that God is the greatest gardener, on top of everything else that He does, He knows just where to put a bulb spring flower that will make someone question everything they thought they knew.
