solstice 2011

sleepless on the longest night of the year. in the sky no stars, no moon, just adding to the darkness. i light a candle to acknowledge the brief moment when earth begins its journey back towards light, and when i go back to sleep, i leave a single window candle lit to shine on through the rest of the dark night.

No wonder I slept so well last night! I am very ready for the light to begin coming back!!!

At least you put a hurricane lamp around the candle. I think that is what they call the candle cover. Sleepless nights are my contribution to stealing time since I can't stop its progression. I have more to savor when I don't sleep.

I wake up in the middle of the night and am up for hours. I go to sleep toward morning. It's how I manage the dark hours.

~she~: glad to hear you slept last night. like R.J. and Nora, i too am up and down often at night. not much to do at that hour - usually, i have a cup of milk and read a chapter or two, then go back to bed and hope to sleep.

What a magical post. As magical as the night it describes. Many thanks.

Greetings from London.
