old nest

i spotted this from a distance, a dark mass at the uppermost branches of the bare tree. tucked high in a perfect crook, this abandoned nest. what kind of exceptional building skills must be holding it up there in this december wind and weather!

With twigs and willpower birds do amazing things, don't they?

one of the special things about winter, the easy spotting of nests & perched birds!

I watch the osprey build his nest from large sticks in some precarious places and always amazed that they last through the spring and well into the summer.

Funny you posted that because just about an hour ago, I noticed a bird nest hiding in the tree right outside my window. I thought about blogging a picture of it! :)

I do found a nest in one of my trees, coverd in snow (and it is on my blog too)! They are quite talented.

love that you stop and think about what exceptional building skills it must take. So true. So many miraculous things that go on around us.
