I'm re-reading Jack Kerouac's novel On The Road, and his protagonist ate apple pie and ice cream every morning during on of his road trips because 'it was so delicious and nutritious' :) Happy Thanksgiving!
Apple pie with ice cream can be a complete meal: fruit (apples), carbohydrates (flour), proteins (nuts), sugar (well, sugar, but your brain needs it to think), and dairy (ice cream)...if you leave the peels on the apples, can we call the peels vegetables? [grin]
We call apple pie "fat pie" in our family and our eldest daughter makes it cause her pastry is sooo good! And she always sprinkles in too much cinnamon...we tell her not to worry, it will be just fine. And,I confess, we eat it anytime. I really like your blog, especially your beautiful pictures of the New England landscape.
very kind word, Anonymous. i will recall your family's apple pie nickname every time i make it now! this year i began using cinnamon from vietnam - what a difference it makes!!
It looks tempting. I could do it also I think.
